Candidate Profile: Jeff Shipley

Jeff Shipley, of Fairfield, is seeking his first term in the Iowa House.  He is running represent House District 82 which includes Bloomfield, Fairfield, and Keosaqua.  The district is comprised of Davis and Van Buren Counties, as well as portions of Jefferson County.

Jeff grew up in Naperville, Illinois and graduated from Naperville Central High School in 2006.  He attended the University of Iowa and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science in 2010.  During that time he was recognized as an Outstanding Student Leader by University of Iowa President, Sally Mason for his role as a University of Iowa Student Government City Council Liaison where he advocated against tax increases and for an array of conservative activism on campus.

After graduation in 2010, Jeff worked for the Mid-America Right to Work Committee in Iowa, helping Republican candidates compete and win against Big Labor funded Democrats.

Presently, Jeff works at the Noyes Law Office in Fairfield as a Legal Assistant, helping families across southeast Iowa cope with debt and financial hardships.  The Noyes Law Office is one of Iowa’s largest bankruptcy law firms.

Jeff also serves as the Vice President of the Fairfield Volunteer Center, and is the Public Relations Officer for Fairfield’s Golden Speakers Toastmasters.  He attends St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fairfield.

    Mr. Noyes is a very nice man. However, the writer is “stretching” here when he says Noyes Law Firm is one of the largest in the state. Perhaps the writer has never been to Des Moines.
