Candidate Profile: Norlin Mommsen

Mommsen headshotNorlin Mommsen, of DeWitt, is seeking his first term in the Iowa House.  He is running to represent House District 97 which includes Comanche, DeWitt, and LeClaire.

Norlin was raised in Miles, graduated from East Central High School, and attended the Farm Operations Program at Iowa State University.  He began farming over 30 years ago.  For nearly a decade he worked at a local agriculture retailer selling fertilizer and herbicides.  Today he’s farming again, growing corn and soybeans, and raising hogs and cattle.

In 2012, Norlin was elected as Clinton County Soil and Water District Commissioner.  He is currently the Rural Representative on the Clinton County Justice Coordinating Commission and serves on the Board of Directors for the Clinton County Farm Bureau and the Great River Threshers.  Over the years he’s been involved with the Clinton County 4-H Youth Board, the Miles Area Lions Club, and the Community Ambulance Service and the FFA Alumni.

Norlin and his Wife, Denise, have five children.
