Meet Our Members – Chris Hagenow

Majority Leader Chris Hagenow just finished serving his fourth term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 43rd District, which includes Clive and Windsor Heights.

Rep. Hagenow serves as the Majority Leader for the House Republican caucus, and also sits on the Administration & Rules committee, as well as the Legislative Council.

Chris is a sixth-generation Iowan, growing up in Cedar Falls, graduating from Northern University High School and the University of Northern Iowa Magna Cum Laude in 1994. Chris earned his JD from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1997 and is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association.

Meet Our Members – Peter Cownie

Representative Peter Cownie just finished serving his fourth term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 42nd District, which includes West Des Moines.

Rep. Cownie is the Chairman of the Commerce committee, and also serves on the Agriculture, and Ways & Means committees.

Peter was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Dow,ling High School in West Des Moines in 1999 and went on to graduate from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2003 after receiving his B.A. in American Government.

Representative John Landon just finished serving his second term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 37th District, which covers part of Ankeny.

Rep. Landon is the Chairman of the Administration and Regulation budget subcommittee.  He is also a member of the Appropriations, Commerce, and Transportation committees.

 

John is a lifelong Iowan with a background in business and is committed to balancing the state budget creating jobs, a favorable climate for business and agricultural growth, eliminating costly regulations, and making education more cost effective.  Read more »

Meet our Members – Zach Nunn

Representative Zach Nunn, of Bondurant, just finished serving his first term in the Iowa House. Zach represents House District 30.  The district consists of Eastern Polk County.  Altoona and Bondurant make up the major population centers in the district. Zach serves on the Administration and Rules, Commerce, Economic Growth, Judiciary, Veterans Affairs, and Ways and Means Committees. He was elected House Assistant Majority Leader in 2015.

 

Zach has served a career defending our nation’s freedom with the US military. A decorated battlefield veteran, Zach deployed three times to operations in Iraq and Afghanistan flying 700-combat hours with the US Air Force; together, his team provided life-saving support to Special Forces and earned “Best Aircrew of the Year”. Meet Our Members – Greg Heartsill

Representative Greg Heartsill just finished serving his second term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 28th District, which includes Knoxville, Monroe, and Pleasantville.

Rep. Heartsill is the Vice Chairman of the Local Government and Government Oversight committees, and also serves on the Environmental Protection, Judiciary, and Public Safety committees.

Greg grew up in southeast Iowa in the little town of Salem and went to high school in nearby Mount Pleasant. He received a computer programming degree from Indian Hills Community College and a business degree from Buena Vista College.

Meet Our Members – Stan Gustafson

Representative Stan Gustafson just finished serving his second term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 25th District, which includes Winterset and Norwalk.

Rep. Gustafson is the Vice Chairman of the Judiciary committee, and also serves on the Economic Growth, Human Resources, and Veterans Affairs committees, as well as the Justice Systems budget subcommittee.

Stan graduated from high school in California and then attended the University of California at Berkeley, graduating with a degree in finance.  After graduation, his participation in Navel ROTC led him to a 2nd Lieutenant Commission in the Marine Corps.  He served in Vietnam from 1966-67 with the Second Battalion, 1st Marines, as an Artillery Forward Observer.  Later, as a Fiscal Officer, Stan managed budges in excess of $80 million. He would finish his active duty commitment honorably and participate in the Reserves for the next 23 years, retiring as a Lt. Colonel.

Meet Our Members – Cecil Dolecheck

Representative Cecil Dolecheck just finished serving his tenth term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 24th District, which includes Bedford, Clarinda, Mount Ayr, and Shenandoah.

Rep. Dolecheck is the Chairman of the Education Appropriation budget subcommittee, and also serves on the Agriculture, Appropriations, and Education committees.

Cecil was born on May 30, 1951, in Mount Ayr. He graduated from the Mt. Ayr Community School District in 1969 prior to attending Iowa Sate University for two years, when he returned to assist his father on the family farm. His father, Ivan, and mother, Leola, farmed in Ringold County near Mount Ayr.
