Meet Our Members – Chris Hagenow


Majority Leader Chris Hagenow just finished serving his fourth term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 43rd District, which includes Clive and Windsor Heights.

Rep. Hagenow serves as the Majority Leader for the House Republican caucus, and also sits on the Administration & Rules committee, as well as the Legislative Council.

Chris is a sixth-generation Iowan, growing up in Cedar Falls, graduating from Northern University High School and the University of Northern Iowa Magna Cum Laude in 1994. Chris earned his JD from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1997 and is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association.

Chris is a founding partner of the Des Moines law firm Whitaker, Hagenow & Gustoff, LLP. Chris serves on Iowa Prayer Breakfast Committee and is a member of the Windsor Heights Lions Club.

Chris and his wife, Amanda, were married in 2005 and have three children, Owen and Sophia. The Hagenow family resides in Windsor Heights. Amanda is a native Iowa farmgirl from Poweshiek County and is a graduate of Iowa State University. She works for Hy-Vee as the Store Dietition in Windsor Heights. The Hagenow’s attend Westkirk Presbyterian Church in Urbandale.
