Meet Our Members – Dawn Pettengill


Representative Dawn Pettengill just finished serving her sixth term in the Iowa House.  She represents Iowa’s 75th District which includes Belle Plaine, Marengo, and Vinton.

Rep. Pettengill is the Chairwoman of the Administrative Rules Review committee, and also serves on the Commerce, Government Oversight,, State Government, and Ways and Means committees.

Dawn has two sons, Jon and Nick, a daughter-in-law and one granddaughter. As a former mayor and city council person of Mt. Auburn, she wants to preserve and protect small town life.

Dawn is a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church and the Vinton Lions Club.  Dawn founded and serves as an advisor to the Mount Auburn Youth Council and sits on the IPERS Investment Board.

Dawn was named 2006 and 2013 Legislator of the year by the Heritage Agency on Aging.  She has been named a Friend of Agriculture by the Iowa Farm Bureau, in 2006, 2008 and 2010.  She was named a “Friend of Small Business by NFIB” in 2008 and 2010 and Friend of Iowa Business by the Iowa Association of Business and Industry in 2008 and 2010. In 2012, the American Conservative Union named Dawn a Defender of Liberty.
