Meet Our Members – Dwayne Alons

Representative Dwayne Alons is currently serving his 8th term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 4th District which includes Sioux Center, Rock Valley, and Orange City.

Rep. Alons is the Chairman of the Veterans Affairs committee, and also serves on the Agriculture, Economic Growth, and Judiciary committees, as well as the Transportation, Infrastructure, and Capitals budget subcommittee.

Rep. Alons was first elected in 1998.  Dwayne is a farmer and retired Iowa Air National Guard Brigadier General. Dwayne was born on October 30, 1946, in Hull, Iowa. His father, Gerrit, was a farmer and his mother, Hattie, was a homemaker.  Dwayne has two sisters, Glenda of Hull, and Marcia of Doon.

Dwayne attended the elementary school system in Boyden.  He graduated from Boyden-Hull High School in 1964. Following high school, he graduated from Northwestern College in Orange City and received his Master’s degree from the University of Arkansas.

In 1967, Dwayne married Clarice and together they have four children, Kevin, Kyle, Kristin, and Karena.  Dwayne and Clarice have 13 grandchildren.

Dwayne and Clarice attend Christ Community Church in Sioux Center where Dwayne served as a Deacon and as an Elder.  He is a member of the Farm Bureau, Iowa Corn Growers Association, Iowa Cattleman’s Association, Sioux County Pork Producers, Gideons International, American Legion, Kiwanis, and the Iowa Soybean Association.
