Meet Our Members – Lee Hein


Representative Lee Hein just finished serving his third term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 96th District, which includes Anamosa, Manchester, and Monticello.

Rep. Hein serves as chairman of the Agriculture committee. He also serves on the State Government, Transportation, and Ways & Means committees.

Lee was born in Monticello, Iowa. He attended Iowa State University for two years before returning home to join his family farm. Lee is the third generation to operate the family where they raise corn, soybeans and cattle.

Lee and his wife, Jacky, have two grown children, Amy and Ben. Jacky is a small business owner in Monticello. The family attends St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Monticello.

Lee was previously elected to the Monticello School Board where he served for nine years, five of them as President. He has also served as the President of both the Cedar Valley Farm Business Association Board and the Iowa Farm Business Association Board. Lee remains active in his community as a member of Farm Bureau, Pork Producers, and Cattleman’s Associations.
