Meet Our Members – Rob Bacon

Representative Rob Bacon is currently serving his second term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 48th District which includes Webster City and Madrid.

Rep. Bacon serves as the Vice Chairman of the Human Resources committee, and also serves on the Appropriations, Natural Resources, and State Government committees, as well as the Health & Human Services budget subcommittee.

Rob has been an Iowan since 1975 when he moved here to attend college.  While studying to become a minister, he worked at a funeral home in Oskaloosa.  Shortly after, he decided to make funeral directing his profession, and has been licensed since 1981.  He has worked in funeral homes since 1983 as a manager, partner and owner.

Rob is a member of the Nevada Rotary Club, Iowa Funeral Directors Association, and the United Methodist Church. Rob is an advocate for rural heath care and was recognized as Legislator of the Year in 2012 by the Physician Assistant Association.

Rob was previously elected to the State Senate but in 2010 decided to run for the House. Rob married his high school sweetheart, Carol, and together they have four grown children and four grandchildren.
