Biography

Ashley Hinson is serving her first term in the Iowa House representing District 67. She lives in Marion, and represents Marion, Hiawatha Robins and Cedar Rapids.  She serves as Vice Chair of the appropriations committee, and is also on the Transportation, Judiciary, Justice Systems budget committee, and the International relations committee. She also serves on the interim pubic health advisory committee and the new committee on jury process and procedure making recommendations to the Iowa Supreme Court.

Ashley grew up in West Des Moines.  She attended college at the University of Southern California and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism.  For more than a decade she worked as a news anchor, reporter, and producer at KCRG-TV9 in Cedar Rapids connecting with the community, policy makers, and businesses. She’s a volunteer for dozens of community organizations, including the NCSML, Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance, March of Dimes, Young Parents Network, National Council on Youth Leadership, The History Center, and Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa. She’s a classically trained violinist, and played 2 seasons in the Des Moines Symphony.  She regularly plays with her Church’s music worship team.

Ashley is married to her husband, Matthew, and they have two young sons.
