Dawn has two sons, Jon and Nick.  Jon and his wife gave Dawn a beautiful little granddaughter on 9/11/09.  Dawn has spent almost 20 years in the retirement and financial services industry.  Pension law and compliance are her specialty areas in that industry.  As a former mayor and city council person of Mt. Auburn, she wants to preserve and protect small town life.  Dawn was first elected in 2004.

Dawn is a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, the Vinton Lions Club and the Belle Plaine Optimists Club.  Dawn founded and serves as an advisor to the Mount Auburn Youth Council, is a commissioner for the Iowa Department on Aging and sits on the IPERS Investment Board.

Dawn was named 2006 Legislator of the year by the Heritage Agency on Aging.  She has been named a Friend of Agriculture by the Iowa Farm Bureau, in 2006, 2008 and 2010.  She was named a “Friend of Small Business by NFIB” in 2008 and 2010 and Friend of Iowa Business by the Iowa Association of Business and Industry in 2008 and 2010.
