Jarad Klein is serving his fourth term in the Iowa House.

Jarad is the fifth-generation to grow up on the family farm north of Keota.  Jarad graduated from Keota High School in 1999 and purchased his first 80 acres of farmland in Washington County.  Jarad went on to attend Drake University.

During his freshman year at Drake, Jarad started his career in politics.  He began as an intern for George W. Bush’s Presidential Campaign in 1999-2000.  He went on to clerk at the Iowa Statehouse for two years.  During the summer of 2001, Jarad joined the Leadership Institute in Arlington, VA.  While attending school, Jarad also served as the Southeast Field Representative for the Republican Party of Iowa.

Following school, Jarad returned to full-time production agriculture, but had interest in politics ever since.  Jarad met his wife, Rachel, during their freshman year of college and together they have four young children.

Jarad has served as the Keokuk County Republican Party Chairman and the Republican Party of Iowa Rules Chair.

He is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Washington County Pork Producers, Washington County Farm Bureau, Iowa Soybean Association, Iowa Corn Growers Association, Pheasants Forever and the National Rifle Association.
