Biography
Jeff Kaufmann was first elected to the House in 2004. He is a teacher and farmer. Jeff was born on January 9, 1963, and raised in Wilton. His father, Freeman, was a farmer and his mother, Ruby, was a homemaker.
Jeff graduated from the Wilton Community School District in 1981. In 1985, he received his BA from the University of Iowa.
He continued pursuing his higher education by receiving his MA in 1990 and his PhD in 2000 from the University of Iowa.
In 1984, Jeff married his wife, Vicki. Together they have three children, Robert (Bobby), Jacob, and John. They attend the United Methodist Church in Wilton.
Jeff is a professor at Muscatine Community College where he has taught history and government for the past 16 years. In 1996, Jeff received the Chancellor’s Award from the Eastern Iowa Community College District, and in 2005, he was awarded the Muscatine County Outstanding Teacher Award.
He is a member of the Farm Bureau, Pheasants Forever, Friends of the American Legion, and the National Heritage Association. He serves as Vice-President of the Cedar County Soldiers Monument Association and is the past President of the Cedar County Historical Society.
Prior to being elected to the House, Jeff served on the Wilton School Board from 2001- 2004, where he served as President. He is former Chairman of the Sugar Creek Township Trustees, a former member of the Cedar County Conference Board, and served on the Wilton Library/Community Center Board.
In the House Jeff serves as a member of the Republican Leadership team as an assistant leader.
