Jeremy grew up in Sioux City and decided to return to his hometown to raise a family. He graduated magna cum laude with a degree in English from Dowling College in Oakdale, New York. In 2005, Jeremy received an M.A. in English from the University of South Dakota.

After teaching Honors English on the south shore of Long Island for two years, Jeremy signed a contract with a service organization to teach English at a university in Qui Nhon, Vietnam. During his teaching and study of the Vietnamese language, Jeremy met his wife Kim who immigrated to America in 2003.

Jeremy has taught Language Arts for the past five years at North High School. He has advised the North High newspaper and award-winning Quiz bowl team.

His family attends Morningside Baptist Church and the Vietnamese Evangelical Church in Sioux City.
