Biography

Rod Roberts was first elected to the House in 2000. He is a Development Director with Christian Churches/Churches of Christ in Iowa. Rod was born on October 22, 1957, in Waverly, Iowa. His father, Jack, was a public school teacher and his mother, Darlene, is a retired bank employee. Rod is the oldest of five children.

He grew up in Zearing and attended NESCO Community Schools. In 1976, he graduated from NESCO High School. Following high school, he graduated from Iowa Christian College in 1980.

In 1978, he married Trish and together, they have two children, Lindsey and Brett. Lindsey lives in Malvern and is a public school teacher, and Brett is a student at the University of Iowa. Rod and Trish have four grandchildren.

He attends the Carroll Church of Christ and is a member of the Missions Committee.

Prior to being elected to the House, Rod served five years on the Carroll Community School Board. He is also past President of the Carroll Rotary Club.

In the House, Rod serves as an Assistant Minority Leader.
