Memorial Day is a sacred day of remembrance to honor those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. On Memorial Day this year, don’t forget remember and pay respects for those who paid the price for protecting and preserving the freedoms we enjoy.
Camp Dodge will be hosting a Memorial Day open house:
The Iowa Gold Star Military Museum will host a Memorial Day observance and open house from 5 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday at Camp Dodge, 7105 N.W. 70th Ave. in Johnston. With the U.S. Army’s emphasis on healthy living and physical fitness, a complimentary healthy breakfast will be served from 6 to 9 a.m. on Memorial Day or until supplies run out. There will also be vintage and modern military vehicles and equipment on display along with Civil War, World War I and II, Korean War and Vietnam War re-enactors and a vintage military aircraft flyover. Nearly 90 years after its debut, the newly refurbished Camp Dodge pool complex will be open for public viewing. Under renovation since 2005, the pool complex will provide indoor and outdoor meeting spaces to include conference rooms, outdoor dining space and a bandstand. Admission is free.
Thank you to all the men and women who serve and have served in this nation’s armed forces. The sacrifice of those who have died to preserve this great nation will be in our thoughts and prayers.
