Representative Raecker Issues Statement on Revenue Estimating Conference

House Appropriations Chairman Rep. Scott Raecker (R-Urbandale) released the following statement on the March Revenue Estimating Conference (REC):

“The action by the Revenue Estimating Conference shows that House Republicans have taken the correct approach in crafting an efficient and effective state budget. The House Republican budget, that does not spend more than the state takes in, gives Iowans the certainty to weather any economic storm.”

The REC increased revenue for Fiscal Year 2012 and 2013. Raecker stated:

“By law, the increase in revenue projected today will not be used to increase spending. In fact, this projected increase should be returned to the taxpayers of Iowa in the form of tax relief. House Republicans will continue to budget within our means and find ways to protect the hardworking taxpayers of Iowa.”
