House Majority Leader Linda Upmeyer (R- Clear Lake) released information last Thursday, regarding the National Foundation for Women Legislators (NFWL) and National Rifle Association (NRA) scholarship.
The NFWL and NRA have co-sponsored a Bill of Rights essay scholarship contest for the past sixteen years for college-bound female high school juniors and seniors. Winners receive a $3,000 award and are given the opportunity to attend NFWL’s annual conference in Washington, D.C.
“This program provides students the opportunity to learn more about public policy, leadership training and network with lawmakers while also assisting with tuition expenses,” said Upmeyer. “I would encourage those who are interested to apply.”
The application is available online at www.womenlegislators.org. The deadline to apply is Sunday, September 15, 2013.
