Meet Our Members – John Landon

Representative John Landon just finished serving his second term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 37th District, which covers part of Ankeny.

Rep. Landon is the Chairman of the Administration and Regulation budget subcommittee.  He is also a member of the Appropriations, Commerce, and Transportation committees.

 

John is a lifelong Iowan with a background in business and is committed to balancing the state budget creating jobs, a favorable climate for business and agricultural growth, eliminating costly regulations, and making education more cost effective.  Read more »

Meet Our Members – Greg Heartsill

Representative Greg Heartsill just finished serving his second term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 28th District, which includes Knoxville, Monroe, and Pleasantville.

Rep. Heartsill is the Vice Chairman of the Local Government and Government Oversight committees, and also serves on the Environmental Protection, Judiciary, and Public Safety committees.

Greg grew up in southeast Iowa in the little town of Salem and went to high school in nearby Mount Pleasant. He received a computer programming degree from Indian Hills Community College and a business degree from Buena Vista College.

Meet Our Members – Stan Gustafson

Representative Stan Gustafson just finished serving his second term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 25th District, which includes Winterset and Norwalk.

Rep. Gustafson is the Vice Chairman of the Judiciary committee, and also serves on the Economic Growth, Human Resources, and Veterans Affairs committees, as well as the Justice Systems budget subcommittee.

Stan graduated from high school in California and then attended the University of California at Berkeley, graduating with a degree in finance.  After graduation, his participation in Navel ROTC led him to a 2nd Lieutenant Commission in the Marine Corps.  He served in Vietnam from 1966-67 with the Second Battalion, 1st Marines, as an Artillery Forward Observer.  Later, as a Fiscal Officer, Stan managed budges in excess of $80 million. He would finish his active duty commitment honorably and participate in the Reserves for the next 23 years, retiring as a Lt. Colonel.

Meet Our Members – Cecil Dolecheck

Representative Cecil Dolecheck just finished serving his tenth term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 24th District, which includes Bedford, Clarinda, Mount Ayr, and Shenandoah.

Rep. Dolecheck is the Chairman of the Education Appropriation budget subcommittee, and also serves on the Agriculture, Appropriations, and Education committees.

Cecil was born on May 30, 1951, in Mount Ayr. He graduated from the Mt. Ayr Community School District in 1969 prior to attending Iowa Sate University for two years, when he returned to assist his father on the family farm. His father, Ivan, and mother, Leola, farmed in Ringold County near Mount Ayr.

Meet Our Members – Greg Forristall

Representative Greg Forristall just finished serving his fifth term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 22nd District, which includes Macedonia and Avoca.

Rep. Forristall is the Chairman of the Labor committee, and also serves on the Education, Human Resources, and Ways & Means committees.

Greg grew up on the family farm near Macedonia, and after graduation from Carson-Macedonia High School, he went on to earn bachelor and master degrees in music at the University of Iowa.

Greg currently resides in Macedonia with his wife, Carol, who taught music in Iowa public schools for thirty-five years. Greg farmed for 25 years and also worked in the financial services and information technology industries.

Meet Our Members: Ralph Watts

Representative Ralph Watts just finished serving his seventh term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 19th District which includes Adel and Dallas Center.

Rep. Watts serves as on the Commerce, Labor, Veterans Affairs and State Government committees.

Ralph was born on July 26, 1944, in Lovell, Wyoming. He grew up in Wyoming and graduated from high school in Byron, Wyoming, in 1962. After high school, Ralph graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1966 with a degree in electrical engineering.  He accepted a job with Iowa Power and Light Company (now MidAmerican Energy) and moved his family to Iowa.

Meet Our Members – Steven Holt

Representative Steven Holt just finished serving his first term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 18th District which includes Denison and Harlan.

Rep. Holt is the Vice Chairman of the Public Safety committee, and also serves on the Commerce, Labor, and Veterans Affairs committees, as well as the Justice Systems budget subcommittee.

Steven served our country for 20 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, completing numerous deployments overseas, and receiving countless decorations.  After his military service he entered law enforcement and worked as a Deputy Sheriff and Police Chief.  In 2002 he and his wife, Crystal, started their own small business, Movie Magic USA, an online movie store.  In 2013, they opened another small business, Summer Magic Tropical Sno in Denison.

Meet Our Members: Matt Windschitl

Representative Matt Windschitl just finished serving his fifth term in the Iowa House.  He represents Iowa’s 17th District which includes Ida Grove and Missouri Valley.

Rep. Windschitl serves as the Speaker Pro Tempore of the Iowa House,  and sits on the Administration & Rules, Judiciary, Veterans Affairs, and Ways & Means committees.

First elected in 2006 at the age of 22, Matt became the youngest legislator serving in the Iowa General Assembly at that time.  In 2009, his Republican colleagues in the Iowa House elected Matt as a House Republican Assistant Minority Leader and he was reelected as an Assistant Majority Leader in November of 2010 as well as in November of 2012.  In 2014 Matt was elected to serve as the Speaker Pro-Tempore and reelected to this position in 2015.
