Wills Elected House Majority Assistant Leader

(DES MOINES) – Today Rep. John Wills (R-Spirit Lake) was elected by fellow House Republicans as a new House Majority Assistant Leader.  Rep. Wills will replace Rep. Lee Hein (R-Monticello), who was recently selected to become the House Agriculture Chairman.

“I am honored and humbled to be elected by my peers to serve as an Assistant Leader for our caucus,” said Rep. Wills.  “I am excited for this opportunity to bring a fresh perspective to the House leadership team.  I am also looking forward to next session where House Republicans will continue to fight to create jobs, reduce burdensome regulations on Iowa businesses, and balance the budget by spending less than the state collects.  I would also like to thank my constituents in House District 1 for the honor of representing them in my caucus and in the Iowa House.”

Rep. Wills, who is serving his first term in the House, is currently the Vice Chairman of the House Environmental Protection Committee.  When not serving in the Legislature, he is the Clean Water Coordinator for the Dickinson County Soil and Water Conservation District in Spirit Lake, where he lives with his wife, Cami.  John and Cami have three adult children.
