On Monday, April 18th, the House honored those Iowan’s who served in WW II. Representatives commemorated the 70 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor Deccember 7, 1941. The honorary events started with a proclamation honoring all World War II veterans and their service in the war read by several members of the House. Following the reading, the veterans were recognized in the rotunda by several speakers. Speakers included the Head of Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Brigadier General Derek Hill, Director of Veterans Affairs, Jodi Tymeson, Representative Royd Chambers, Senator Daryl Beall and Representative Jerry Kearns. The 50 some veterans in attendance veterans who accepted the applause of the elected members asked to also remember and honor those who lost their lives in the war.
